These are the 20 items our method got wrong out of 100, published because we said we would. Each one shows the question, the answer we were asked to check, the truth, and how every individual checker voted: including the ones that got it right while the panel as a whole got it wrong.
The count
Sorted with the most serious failure first. A missed falsehood means we waved a false answer through, which is the failure that actually costs a buyer something.
A false answer the panel waved through. This is the failure that matters most: a verification service that passes a wrong claim has failed at the thing it is for.

Which answer counts as true here was decided by the authors of TruthfulQA, not by us. We take their labels as given. On a handful of these items we could probably mount an argument that our checkers were being reasonable, and we have deliberately not made it: if the party being graded can rewrite the answer key, a miss stops meaning anything. They are listed as misses.
Because a verification service that only reports its wins is exactly the thing it warns you about. The whole argument for independent checking is that people grade their own work generously. That argument does not survive us doing it.
